NARRATIVE SUMMARY

HMM-364  flew  1,437.0  hours, completing  1,440 tasks for 6,026 sorties,  lifting 374.9  tons  of  cargo,  carried  14,351  troops/passengers and  flew  203  medical evacuations with 120 emergency,  160 priority and 234 routine evacuees.  HMM- 364  was  responsible  for  1  KBA  confirmed.   There  were  sixteen  enemy  fire incidents directed against squadron aircraft which resulted in 5 aircraft receiving hits and  one crew member  receiving minor injuries.  The average  daily  aircraft availability  was  12  and aircrew availability was 14.   The  squadron awarded 34 1st  Strike/Flight  Award  Medals,  2 Air  Crew Wings,  and 3  Single Mission Air Medals.

PART III
SEQUENTIAL LISTING OF SIGNIFICANR EVENTS

3 June 1970 - Aircraft  153994,  operating  from  LZ Baldy  on  a  C&C  mission damaged a ramp in an unsuitable zone.   Aircraft 152573  damaged the  three aft blades in a hover type zone on a recon extract.

6 June - Aircraft  154026 took moderate .30 caliber  automatic weapons fire on a recon extract.  The aircraft continued into the zone and made the pick up.  After take  off  the suspected area was taken  under  fire by gun ships  and  fixed  wing aircraft.

9 June - Aircraft 153364 took hits in a blade and in  the side and bottom portion of  the fuselage.   The aircraft was on a resupply mission and at  the time  it  was hit, it was hovering over an external load.

10 June - Aircraft  154026  received  intense  small  arms and automatic weapons fire while on an emergency recon extract.  No hits  were taken  and no  casualties resulted.  The mission was successfully completed.

11 June - Aircraft 154026 was damaged when a hand grenade exploded  near the stub wing, on a recon extract.  The stub wing, adjacent fuselage area and one aft blade received shrapnel punctures.

12 June - High day for the month, HMM-364 flew 45 flights for 72.5 total hours, 319 sorties, 67 tasks,  carrying 638 troops/passengers and 24.0 tons of cargo and flew 9  medical evacuation missions for 23 evacuees.   Also, on this day,  aircraft 153385  received  one  hit in  the number  1 boost reservoir  while conducting  an emergency medevac hoist operation.

23 June - Aircraft 154026 tipped aft bladed on a recon insert/extract.
